Just got back from yet another bat catching mission and this was in the mail pile. I picked it a week or so ago and finally got to have a look at it. I'm thinking it is a rim clip. And while it looks a lot more like a normal clip, there is at least a passing chance that it was a loss of lamination on the reverse rim creating a soft spot on both sides. But the overall look is of a normal rim clip.

I just slabbed a 1972 FS-103 with a straight clip and PCGS slabbed it MS65RD with both FS-103 and "clipped planchet" on the label. Guessing they would do a numerical grade and list the error and DDO for this one as well.

Update: While I won't have the coin back in hand until next week, the grades are in. PCGS slabbed it as AU55 FS-101 on the label, so the rim defect did not details the coin. Likely the label will include "clipped planchet" as well but they don't put that in the grade report so will have to wait until I see the slab to know for sure. Pretty darn happy about this result, to say the least.
