Likely another one for John....
CAROLVS instead of CARO and woolpack privy mark at 12 o'clock on the obverse and 10 o'clock on the reverse so type 2?
Any further information, Everson I.D etc, to be added? Many thanks.

Outside of my area, but seems like a nice looking example!

Beautiful example. These are not easy to get in such good condition.

Everson Maltravers Type 2 130. S 3198. Peck 3b. The ones with die axis 12h are much rarer than 6h.

Thank you again John, that's most helpful. Yes, a very attractive coin and very sharply detailed when viewed actual size rather than as this blow up. The reverse is upright ie: both obverse and reverse the same way up, and I was wondering if a single stop rather than colons after FRAN is standard for these?

In fact, the punctuation is all wrong (it's 'grammatically' incorrect). That's usually a sign of a counterfeit, but the counterfeits should have a poorly-designed crown, which I don't think this has. There were some amazing counterfeits (almost indistinguishable) made in the Low Countries, but they might've been too good to make that many errors.

It should be:
.CAROLVS. D! G! MAG! BRIT!
.FRAN! ET. HIB! REX.

But is:
.CAROLVS! D: G MAG! BRIT:
.FRAN. ET! HIB! REX.

Type 130ab has CAROLVS! as well as die axis 12h (which yours is) and 6 strings on the harp, all of which are unusual. Everson thinks they're genuine despite those differences. But Everson doesn't mention the other punctuation errors. Still, it seems to me it's 130ab and whoever engraved the legends was either new or not concentrating. Everson mentions exactly this obverse punctuation for 129i (double rose privy mark) and thinks that's genuine.

Yes, even without the errors. But 130ab is extremely rare. Although most people would buy it because it's a very attractive example rather than for it's rare punctuation.
