Seeking feedback and help from the community with a 2007 D Idaho State Quarter that I found in my pocket change. Quarter is in great condition, almost flawless except for this: When looking at the edge of quarter, it is of complete solid silver color, no mix in metals as should be, Silver? Doesn't weigh what a silver quarter should. Any ideas anyone? Looking for direction as to what I need to do next, contact mint to ask to have there experts take a look at the coin, ? Is it an error that is not known about? Or do I send it in to PCGS to have them look at it and grade it also? Does anybody know of any other such 2007 D Idaho State Quarters with same error? Please any feedback would be greatly appreciated. *** [green]*** Edited by Staff to crop/rotate/resize images. In the future, Please crop, resize, and correctly orient images before uploading. ***

To CCF! It's probably been most likely plated. Definitely not worth sending it in, to be graded by a TPG.

If do not wheight silver so it is normal quarter. The rims in some case was full, but in your case I see the clading cooper. It is no error here just a normal Mint process.

I'd hang onto it but label it properly so you know what it it and isn't.

There definitely is no clad as round the outer rim, gotta be the lighting I was trying to use, as far as plates, is that something they donate the mint?

The mint doesn't plate quarters, although some resellers do. Check to see if the coin is somewhat magnetic, if it's plated, odds are good that it's nickel.

Guff79, It most likely is an after-mint plating. Some companies plate quarters in silver, platinum and gold and sell them to uninformed buyers. These "plated" coins become PMD to true collectors. John1

Sure looks like it was plated.
