NGC - Coin of the Day: On this day in 1502, Christopher Columbus landed on Martinique during his Fourth Voyage. This Martinique 1897 Franc is from the Caribbean island southeast of Puerto Rico, which remains part of France today.

The Martinique issues all had low mintages and are quite pricey in higher grades.
Inordinately fascinated by bits of metal with strange markings and figures
