Hey everyone,

Got this a few years ago as part of a few rolls of Buffalo nickels and still to this day I wonder if this is good enough to get graded. As a Canadian, I don't have enough experience with these to really know what the grade is. It is a gorgeous coin with no wear and a little bit of chatter in certain spots that I can detect based on pictures I've seen of high grade.

I'm interested in hearing your thoughts on this.

I'm limited to 300 pixels by 300 pixels. Not sure how to enlarge it.

if you can't enlarge I give it a shot using these. the coin appears to be in the AU50-53 range. can't tell if the surfaces are original so not sure if it grades straight. lets say it does. the coin would be somewhere around a $50 coin if slabbed. the problem with slabbing this would be the cost of grading would exceed the value of the coin. for instance you need a subscription if you go with PCGS the entry level is $69 plus the grading fee. typically about $22 for average coins then you have shipping and insurance both ways.

so to answer you question. I would not send this one in.

Agreed, AU grade. Not worth getting it graded by a TPG.

Agree with everyone else on this one.

Surfaces look oddly textured.

To be honest, these pictures don't do the coin justice. The lighting I have currently is not my friend for good pictures.

It it most certainly not Circulated, as I said I see mostly chatter on the surfaces.

I'll try to fix my lighting issue and repost.

Thanks for the replies!

we can only grade by what we see. photos are difficult enough to accurately grade. small photos multiple that exponentially.
