Charles II (1660-1685), Proof Halfpenny, 1673. Very fine with some contact marks and a dug on the rev. Even wear and had been lacquered. Apart from the sharp strike and detail, the biggest difference to circulation piece is the border. Peck 515 has a circular border while circulation piece has a toothed border. Could be intended to be like a medal with a circular border rather than being a simple proof. This is why some believed the coin is a pattern rather than a proof.

Peck 515 - Very rare. Probably less than 15 known

Nice. Yes, a proof, struck in both copper and silver.
The patterns have a QVATVOR MARIA VINDICO (I claim the four seas) reverse legend and BRITANNIA instead of the date in the exergue.
