I have an iPhone 11 and there is no macro option, I downloaded apps with macro options and use my jewelers Loupes etc to get closer and still have the same results. When I take images on my coins, I start out at zoom factor 3 for a full coin image then up to a 6 or 7 for closeup images. I hope you will be able to get better images.
