So I was browsing a thread in which the user was trying to get a coin from every country in their birth year, and it got me thinking, what's the latest year that silver coins were produced for circulation in any country? I know the U.S. stopped after the last circulation-strike 40% Kennedy's in 1969, but I have a few circulating silver coins from the 1970's in my world silver collection. Here are some of my latest: France 50 francs (1975): Mexico 100 pesos (1978): I'd love to see some more examples of circulating silver coinage (as in, no bullion like Silver Eagles, etc.) from the 1970's or later, so please post them here if you have any! Bonus points if anyone can hit my birth year of 1995 (if it even exists!)

That's a beautiful Hercules, Ariette! Might have to acquire one of those myself. Mexico produced circulating commemoratives of 10 (1992-1995), 20 (1993-1995), and 50 (1993-1995) Nuevos Pesos. My 20 Nuevos Pesos is from 1993, or I'd be claiming the bonus points! Tough to photograph because it's so highly reflective, so I'll post two tries:

I'm sure Hungary issued some 50% silver 200-forint coins for circulation in the early 1990s but l am away from home right now so can't photograph mine. Maybe another CCF member has one.

Great idea @ariette!
I can't play because the latest coins in my collection are from my birthyear (which is just a few years decades before yours), but I'll enjoy watching.

Quote: Mexico produced circulating commemoratives of 10 (1992-1995), 20 (1993-1995), and 50 (1993-1995) Nuevos Pesos. These are really neat, thanks for sharing yours! I checked Numista and it looks like several million of each denomination was made in 1995. Maybe I should try to assemble a birth year set of these.

Very nice, I like it! I'm also a fan of old proof and mint sets, especially when they contain silver.

Thanks, Ariette! I'm the same way - there's just something about silver. By the way, have you started on your birth year set of Nuevos Pesos?

Great idea Ariette. I'm glad I could inspire you to start this. I'll see what I have in my collection. I have lots (practically) all the silver mint sets coin back to 1950 so far in both proofs and Uncirculated.
