I'm going to say possible vise job. the cent and dime were pressed together, enlarging the dime planchet making it a 'Texas Dime' (just tossing it out there)

you heat up the dime to soften the metal.

So, is this dime you presented (the 2021-D) actually larger? and if so, is it also thinner?

Can we see an edge on image side by side with a 'normal dime?

You are right, it is definitely thinner! I also noticed the liberty along the neck is oriented different. Is that also a sign of being in a vice? Or, what are the signs that you see?
I'm going to keep it so I can remember what a fake looks like. I might also need to break out my coin collection so I can feel better, and maybe share some here.
Thank you all for taking the time to help me!
