Here are 2 official Roman counter marked coins. I always wanted a coin from a famous emperor and maybe this is how I got one. Information is a bit fuzzy for me though.

AVG with TICAE - I I understand it, this counter mark would be on an Augustus coin in Ephesus.

TI*C*A - This counter mark, from what I've read, is on a coin from Caligula.

Welcome to CCF! Nice countermarks. A good reference for Roman Provincial countermarks is by C. J. Howgego, but his book is out of print and expensive. I have some Greek coins and Roman coins with countermarks, also called counterstamps. Here is a web site that should help:

https://www.romancoins.info/Countermark-List.html

If you are interested in collecting some ancient coins, CCF is a good place to learn in the Ancient Coin Forum. You could check out Vcoins.com, ebay sold listings and other sites about ancient coins. Common low grade ancient bronze coins are not expensive. But as with any time period there are fakes, so buy from a trusted source and/or know coins well enough to avoid fakes.

Livingwater, thank you for the welcome and info. All the coins I have I got from ebay about 20 years ago. They were about half the price or less from what they are now I bought from US, UK, Bulgaria, and Israel. Still have about 1000 small coins (and they are small) to clean I got in a lot for really cheap. Can't tell you how much time I spent on Forum Ancient coins and Wildwinds. There is something about actually holding an ancient coin that brings that history to life.
