I've looked to find a 52 D nickel with a DDO involving IGWT and Date. Would you say this would pass for DDO or just damage? I realize the coin is in pretty bad shape but wondering if this would pass for DDO I would think there's a better shaped coin out there.

The DDO looks clear on the images. It looks like a nice 1962 D DDO-001 (reference below). One thing to note, it looked to me like the 5 may have some Machine Doubling. The doubling in the date on a DDO-001 is to the east, like on the 2 in your coin, not to the west, where it looks like the 5 in your coin has a flat shelf-like MD section. http://varietyvista.com/04a%20JN%20...2DDDO001.htm

Looks like a DDO to me - I see a few split serifs on it.

The split serifs on Trust and Liberty are well known hub doubling. It is most visible on the T and S of Trust, and the T of Liberty. You can examine it quite clearly on most 1952 nickels shown on PCGS TrueView. http://goccf.com/t/453439The phenomenon on the date, I am not sure about.

I checked Wexler and VarietyVista. VV #001 mentions LIBERTY, star and date. I wasn't sure about the splits on the T's and S of TRUST. If those were typical of that year. At the 5 I didn't think it was a MD. The 2 looks like it's doubled to the east with splitting at the tail. LIBERTY, star and date just looked different. Thanks for your help and time.

The tail of the 2 does seem to have a split. I don't know how to match that up against the metal on the 5, because they are in different directions. If there is doubling on the belly of the 5, it is in the shadow on your picture. Were it my coin, I would check the right edges of the letter posts in Liberty, like the Variety Vista listing. http://www.varietyvista.com/04a%20J...2DDDO001.htm

. Thanks everyone for looking. @Brandmeister. Thank you for your knowledge of the nickels. I did look at LIBERTY before and just now. There's not much showing but mmmmaybe 9&2. You really need to look closely to sorta see it. That's why I was curious about TRUST mostly. Thanks again for pointing out about the splits on T's and S. I know that this coin isn't worth fooling with but just wanted to find out about those issues.

Thanks jbuck. I thought so just to be able to learn from it. Nickels isn't my favorite coin, awhile back I picked up a couple boxes almost thought of taking them back (but) I just can't.
