Please take a look at this 1971-D Jefferson nickel with what appears to be WRPM-001. The mintmark certainly looks correct other than the wear on the bottom of 'D'. I cannot locate the scratch markers to the left of the collar. The marker may be worn off or maybe I need to clean the area. Comments / Thoughts. Thanks.

Not an RPM. Just circulation wear and flattening.

Thanks for the replies all. Please understand that I am just trying to learn from you experts on some of the details of your responses. Please take one more look at the pictures that I have added. My son took a look at this MM and we both saw the same thing. I have added a couple more images and added some better lighting. The first added image just shows the lines of the D MM's and the separation in the upper left corner. Thee second one shows the MM one my coin and then the WRPM-001 off to the right. Added thoughts / comments would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Some times the circulation flatering could play games. It is not the RPM.

The top notch looks much further to the right than the RPM image. It's not out of the question that this coin was once an RPM, but the circulation damage has unfortunately made a diagnosis inconclusive. You've got a good eye for spotting the notching, though.

Thank you 'Brandmeister' that was the answer I was expecting from the experts. I agree about the damage. I wish we saw this coin right off the press I think it would have proven some people wrong on this one.
