Is it missing the shiny layer but wouldn't that show a copper color the only good thing I can think of the back might be satin it looks like worn satin or just missing shiny layer need help to figure it out somewhat thankyou

the reverse was exposed to some sort of caustic environment of some sort and the obverse was protected.

The reverse was exposed to some kind of chemical that the obverse wasn't. Great minds think alike.
