I found this 1988-D Lincoln Cent in one of my error/variety searches. The initials are gone from grease. I can't distinguish between the normal rev and the rev of '89 through the letters in AMERICA. Can someone help me?
Many others here have more expertise than me. But it seems that if the main feature has been eaten by a grease-filled die, you might have to go by distance from the base.
Perhaps there are die markers for the 1989 reverse?
With what looks like a Ridge Ring around the reverse, I'm going to say no. The reverse of 89 dies didn't get to that point before they caught it. You won't find a die state other than early on these 88s.
