In preparation for submitting to NGC, I have a triage of dimes from Denver that are incredibly clean. But even at a 68, their value is minute compared to other denominations. Why is that? What would be the price jump on a 68+, or even a 69?

Supply and demand.

There were 1.8 billion of these minted, and the number of collectors who desire a high grade example can be satisfied by what's available out of that 1.8 billion coins to choose from.
