Need some opinions and have a question. I think I have a 1964 d ddo-004. She's a little ugly. Definitely looks different as far as the lettering of my other 64 nickels. My question is if a marker is present does that mean for sure it is the variety? Or if a marker isn't there is is not the variety? In this example the marker is present but definitely wanted to ask the question.

You need to find the doubled die first, then match markers. What site did you use?I see no doubled die.

Wexlers link to Brian's the die gouge marker under the I in in matches if I can say almost exactly. The lettering in spot on as well. Again please forgive my questions I am so new. I am assuming class 2 is going to be the toughest to identify outside of all the Machine Doubling

Thank you for your time John1! Found a 1964 DDR yesterday. I did not post because those are pretty unmistakable.

That does not look like identical placement to me. Similar size and shape, but yours is deeper under the I of IN and tilted differently.

I don't see the doubling, but then again, I am having a rather hard time seeing the doubling on WDDO-004.

As John said, you need the primary features first, before matching markers.

Hopefully I was at least on to something ! The reason I even started to look for markers was because of the odd way the lettering appeared to be taller towards the center if the coin. I have mistaken MD for a doubled die several times at least. This photo might at least show a better view of why I asked . Again thanks so much for your time and responses
