Hey, I just bought this piece, as in the image. I personally grade it as AU50, But the bands and jewels on the crown have been slightly flattened, so it might be an EF40 above but not yet AU50. Here is my blog to share my thought in coin collecting My Blog for coin collecting thoughts

I could see AU-50, but looks like some environmental issues.

First of all it's not nickel it's silver. EF45 may be AU with better pics, less glare. May also be corroded.

No offense, but you're consistently over grading your coins.
Determine the grade and drop it one or two grades and then you will be correct.

Yeah, that's my observation, too, I constantly over grade about 1 grade. So I just need to drop 1 grade from my evaluation, it will be more or less correct. That's the benefit of posting my own evaluation. So I can keep the record and make this observation.

XF-40 with environmental damage, plus a gouge, which may take it to VF-35.

Pictures are a bit blurry but I'd guess AU details. Looks like maybe some cleaning on the obverse from top left to bottom right diagonally and also appears to have some environmental damage/corrosion as well, but both could be a function of the picture quality.

Do the 5c of that series have a tendency to weak reverse strikes? It's a challenge to get all the details into those tiny leaves...!

There is no cleaning trace on both sides, just an image quality issue. The black dots are dirt, not damage to the coin. @silver101, would the weak reverse strike have impacts to the evaluation of the coin's market price?
