For grading, an ebay acquisition of a 1941 Large-S Jefferson nickel. The coin was sold as MS; the FS-501 variety was not specifically called out.

It is either Variety Vista Die 1 or Die 16. I'm not even sure what the difference is, since they share the same obverse—you can see the Morse-code die gouge on the queue quite clearly here—and seemingly the same punch and position?

This one I would consider having graded, provided that the coin is MS vs. AU and not cleaned.

Nice looking coin. Agree with MS63 range.

I'm not sure what or where this feature is. Please explain or show a detail photo. Thanks

This is what I called the Morse code die gouge: a bunch of dots and dashes in a line. The gouge across the queue is the distinguishing marker for that particular obverse.

You guys all seem to agree on MS63. So why not 62 or 64? Is it the bag marks on the cheek and ear, that mark on the field near the date, or some other combination of factors? Not disagreeing, I am just trying to develop my grading knowledge. MS grading has grown much slower for me than circulation grades (partly because I don't see many MS nickels from CRH).
