1997-D Jefferson Nickel, Clipped? PMD?

Brandmeister Pillar of the Community United States 6493 Posts	Posted 05/09/2024 12:41 pm Digital pick from ebay. Not sure about the diagnosis on this one. There appears to be a Blakesley effect, as well as metal flow from the top edge of the devices. On the other hand, there is quite a bit of banging around the edge of the clip and the rim corners. That A leg in the metal flow area bugs me. Is this a legitimate clipped planchet nickel that has been knocked around in circulation? Or did someone fake a clip? The coin was identified as a clipped nickel in the ebay auction listing, although I bought it for peanuts. Report this Post to the Staff
