And yes it looks like an s over d or a repunched mint mark. I'm not sure which one because I don't know enough about 1878 Morgan dollars to know which is which. I want to get your input.

I can add that the Denver mint did not exist in 1878, that mint began in 1906, so an S/D cannot exist on this date, but rpms of the S/S do indeed exist

Even from that photo, it looks like a normal die except for damage post mint...
