Good Evening,

First, I apologize for my ignorance. Second, thank you for everything you have and do each day for beginners. This is my first post and question anywhere, ever. I started because of an individual called Coop? <--thank you! He does not know me, just helped with all the info I found posted by him.

Is this a die chip? Am I in the right place? Is the photo ok? I could not figure out how to send more than 1 photo.

Area- top of Washington's crown

To CCF! It's a small Die Chip. It's cool, but no premium.

Yep, its a die chip. Check to see if there is doubling at the lower part of Washington's cuff. Many people look at lettering for doubling but in the newer quarters ( State Quarters on), most of the doubling occurs in the image part of the reverse.

AtlanticBo,

Not sure why you can't post more than one pic at a time.We usally have a problem with members posting too many pics at a time
You posted in the correct section of the forum.
Pics are fine, but you might have to filter your light to cut down on glare.
The crown you refered to is a hat as mentioned.
The die chip is in a common area on the series, check ebay for photos. The chip gets worse.
Nor premium for a small die chip.

@AtlanticBo - Yes, a die chip top of hat. Perhaps a close-up of that area?

Thank you for the advice, information and correction.

Learning points.

1. no premium for small die chip (on this coin) <--or in general?
2. not a crown but a famous tricone
3. too much glare
4. provide close up of area in question
5. look for doubling in center area, particularly under the cuff on this State Quarter
6. review ebay for similar concerns, etc.

@ Atlantic: All good learning points have been noted above - those points are more for us in order to help you out better. You see, you have the coin in hand, we have to rely on the images provided to make classifications.

But yes, that is a die chip on Washington's HAT.. (not a crown but a famous tricone - )

Thank you,

Can you provide a recommendation for the best device to capture photos, and/or point me in the right direction to acquire it? I know this is not the right place for my question, and appreciate any response.

For most of my images I just use my Android phone, for extreme closeups, I have a Tomlov Microscope that is connected to my computer.
