Do any of you know if replating one of these will be enough to change the weight enough to be detectable? I purchased 2 at a show a bit back, and yesterday cleaned of my desk and found them again. when I took them out of the dealers 2x2 they look "off". they did look normal in the 2x2. the edges are not as shiny as the rest, so I am not sure. on one I don't care as much, I bought it for the die crack/retained Cud on the reverse, but the other was to replace one in a set. Since digital blue still doesn't have a work around for 64 bit vista, I can't look under high mag and/or post a picture. Thanks for any help.

I'm no pro,but I recall reading somewhere that the plating is so thin that it would not add noticeable weight.Lets wait for the pros to answer.

Due to planchet weight tolerances(~+/-0.1g), the amount of metal added through electroplating is usually not measurable. If enough is added to weigh over, then there should be so much plating that the design is greatly affected and softened. A normal steelie should have unplated rims with raw steel exposed since the metal was plated before the blanks were punched.
