Hi all, is this one of those stamps that people mark coins with? If it's not, I can't imagine what could have caused this unless some circular object was pressed against the coin in some kind of PM condition.

It doesn't seem to affect the letters it goes over so my thoughts are a stain.

I'm also thinking it's a stain on the surface.

The fact that it's almost centered over the R in AMERICA makes me think of the symbol for a registered trademark. ®
