According to Canada's Orders in Council, there are three commemorative coins coming out this year, each with a coloured and a non-coloured version.

- a 1-dollar coin commemorating 150 years since the birth of L.M. Montgomery (colour version and non-colour version)

- a 2-dollar coin coin celebrating the Inuit Nunungat (colour version and non-colour version)

- a 2-dollar coin celebrating 100 years of the RCAF (colour version and non-colour version)

Thanks chief, will keep an eye out for them.
There will be, obviously, collectors versions in special RCM packaging.
This besides the regular loonie & toonie, the proof, silver proof, and specimen versions.

Enough with the flood of commemoratives. There are way too many of them being issued, and it seems any reason will do. I'm getting sick of this.

I have to disagree. Three circulation commemoratives is not a ''flood'' or ''too many.'' It's rather reasonable, even frugal if you compare it to the USA or especially the €2 commemorative coins being churned out by the Euro countries.

do you have a timeline on the releases?

As far as I know, there are no release dates yet. But the dates of 100th and 150th anniversaries are usually a pretty good indication when they'll be released.

I agree with redlock. I really enjoy collecting coins, especially the unique and commemorative ones. I'm a history teacher, so it's an excellent way to celebrate history. I think this year is a nice choice of events too (100 years of RCAF, 25 years since formation of Nunavut, 150 birthday of internationally-renowned author Montgomery).
I have nowhere near enough money to collect any of the NCLT - even the cheapest is out of my price range. But I want to see more than just the traditional reverses when I look at my collection. I like the commemoratives. I hardly would call 3 a flood, but if you think it's too much, then don't collect them - leave them in the rolls for others who do!
