IndianGoldEagle Bedrock of the Community United States 36744 Posts	Posted 06/18/2024 10:43 am This one has signs of once being "whizzed" which was done by using a high speed wire brush to remove the top layer of the surfaces. They would take EF and AU coins trying to add chart wheel luster and sell them as Ch BU (choice brilliant uncirculated). This one is AU details, altered surfaces. Report this Post to the Staff

panzaldi Bedrock of the Community United States 18664 Posts	Posted 06/19/2024 6:16 pm something was done to alter the surfaces of the coin almost like it was acid treated causing pitting across the entire coin. the sad part of it is that this was a higher grade coin even possibly MS. i don't think whizzing would cause the pitting we are seeing. typically it show as curved hairlines from the spinning of the tool I'm with IGE AU details (Altered surfaces) Edited by panzaldi 06/20/2024 09:09 am Report this Post to the Staff
