All opinions most welcome on this one. I had the foresight to buy the RFK/JFK commem set when it came out... 3 of them, in fact. Two of the JFK matte coins look like they'll score a 69 (or, if the numismatic gods are with me, 70). Unfortunately, there's a little toning on the rim at 1 o'clock on those coins... and it subtracts, rather than adds to their beauty.

Should I have them conserved at the same time I send 'em in for grading? Would it be worth it to me? I plan on keeping the 3rd set for myself and, if the other two grade well, making those available for sale.

I also have a beautiful GSA '72 Ike with no issues. Conservation not needed, but worth it to get it graded.? Thanks, everyone.

Obviously we will need photos to make a proper assessment. Also, it would be best to have Kennedy and Ike in separate topics.

I might be able to save you some time on the Ike. As someone who has recently completed a set of them in PCGS holders, I can tell you it would not be worthwhile to pay for encapsulation, even at a bulk or promotional rate. What I paid for my PR69DCAM 40% silver proof Ikes was well below what it would cost me to buy them in the OGP and send in for grading.

I am going to go ahead and lock this topic for images since no one else is offering comments.

You will get many more quality responses when there are quality images in the first post of a topic. Please start a new topic when you are able to upload pictures. If needed you can use the testing forum. Tutorials are below.

Note: When you start a new topic this one may be removed. So don't panic if you get an email that your topic was removed it's only this one.

PC: We highly recommend IrfanView. (Download) (Irfanview Tutorial)

Apple Computers: Tutorial here: http://goccf.com/t/466343

Cell Phones (iPhone or Android): First, do not upload cell phone pictures of screens. They are terrible. Please check your camera settings are set to Medium quality. If it uses compression use 70%, it's perfectly fine for the internet. For file type please use WEBP if your phone has it, otherwise JPG. Avoid PNG and GIF, they are horrible choices. Be sure to crop the image to only show the coin. This is a great setup for cell phones.
