This Jefferson nickel is about 60-65% off center to the K-2 position, with very light collar scars on the unstruck area. The struck details are nice and sharp on the coin including the steps of the Monticello.

The details are usually strong on out-of-collar errors because the dies can penetrate deeper during the strike. This is due to the missing collar which would limit the strike depth on a normal coin.

At first, I thought coin was struck on a Type I planchet. Most of the edge is sharp and doesn't show much of a Proto-Rim. Looking at other off-center Jefferson nickel errors it looks as if most of the Type II planchets don't display much of an upset edge.

I'm going to do some extra study on the doorway of the Monticello on this coin, because I noticed a line across the top that could be evidence of a Doubled Die. I'm just not sure enough to say.

Nice Off Center strike! It looks like it was struck on a Type 1 blank.

Another very nice off-center! ..and cool trails as well. Does anyone else see
the trails? Just making sure it's not a flash-back I'm experiencing.

No one who knows me would ever accuse me of being on-center. In fact, I'm pretty sure I've missed the mark totally on a number of occasions.

I really do have normal coins in my collection, just not so many. Is it odd that most collectors want coins that are as close to perfect as possible, but I want the wonky errors that stand out like a sore thumb... or like an off-center strike?

You fit right into my wonky world. I like wonky also.

I love seeing any of your error coins and feel fortunate to have you posting them. Thank you!
