Hello, again. I wanted to share a Cud coin I found in my hoard today. I'm actually pretty happy with it though it's not in the best shape, but it's my first Cud find! I absolutely LOVE the toning on Lincoln, he looks crazy with a glowing eye!!

Not seeing a reverse Cud - maybe a plating blister? to the CCF!

I don't think these are Cuds. It looks more like plating bubbles. The last T of TRUST can be seen on top of the bubble. If this were a true Cud, there wouldn't be anything on top of the raised area. The rim is also still in place around the bubble. I think it's just a plating problem and not an error.

OK, thank you again. I just learned about Cud. Did not know about the 'bubble' but that makes sense. There is a hole with corrosion on the reverse, the little spots over the shield make sense. There is an odd spot under the bottom right ribbon that I'm not certain of.. cause it's not bubbly, it looks crackly but it'll probably be the same as the bubbles on the shield.

Hey now that I look at the bubble with the T on it, enlarged, it looks like the copper layer is pulling away from the edge? Does it look like there is a different metal where the copper layer pulled away from the rim?

Yes, these are rather large zinc blisters.

Here's an extreme case of blistering on a zinc cent. I read an article in Coin World talking about how bad plating blisters can get and this was the image that was used. As you can see, some of the design can still be seen on the lifted areas.

All the raised blemishes on this specimen are examples of subsurface corrosion (zinc rot).
