I have this 1927 (i think) republic of China silver coin, and there is a spelling mistake "OE" instead of "OF". I'm wondering is this significant at all and legitimate? The second silver coin I have no information on and can't find any similar images anywhere. Is it legimate? And just wondering on estimated prices for them aswell thanks. *** Moved by Staff moved to a more appropriate forum. ****** Edited by Staff to crop/rotate/resize images. These are both rather crude replicas - not genuine coins.

Is there something that gives away that they are replicas?

The are frequent spelling mistakes in English on Chinese coins of the period, including oe instead of the of. I think the first coin is trying to look like the 1912 dollar. Try running a magnet over them. Often, but not always, fakes are magnet.

As others have pointed out, these are fake as the day is long, and almost certainly contain no silver content whatsoever.

Chemically applied tarnishing - check. Mushy appearance - check. Coin type known for being extensively faked - check.
