Hello all.
Before I post pictures looking like a fool I have some questions if you don't mind. What's the deal with the 1965 dime? I've been hearing something about no mint mark, something messed up in, "in god we trust". Is there any truth to this or just another one of those bicentennial quarters type situations?
I would greatly appreciate any advice or thoughts or anything on the subject. Thanks so muc!

50% usual YouTube clickbait garbage, 50% truth.

In 1964 the price of silver rose to close to the face value of the coins, leading to hoarding.

The mint asked to change the composition and in mid-year 1965 it was approved - creating the clad coins we have today. To create enough coins to replace the silver in circulation (and because the mint was fixated on evil coin collectors hoarding, vs. the price of silver) they changed the law to allow the mint to use all of its facilities without mintmarks. No proof sets either.

Mint went on OT cranking out coins for 1965 and 1966, finally getting ahead in 1967. The law was changed back for 1968 coins.

Little known is that the law also allowed the minting of 1964-dated silver coins until there were enough clad coins to meet the needs of commerce. The mint changed each facility over separately and 1964 dated quarters we minted until April 1966.

net-net no 1965, 1966, or 1967 coins have mintmarks.

The mint used and abused the dies until way way beyond normal life spans. Missing details? Keep minting. Dies spread so lettering is on the rim? Keep minting. No detail in the hair or eagle's breast? Keep minting. You get the picture.

Well for coins minted in 1965, 1966, and 1967 No coins of any denomination and mint had a Mint Mark on them.
as for the rest, we'll need images.
so, I'm locking this topic until you have images.

We will gladly help you, but we will need images first. We are locking this topic to prevent posts with "We need images". You will get many more quality responses when there are quality images in the first post of a topic. Please start a new topic when you are able to upload pictures. If needed you can use the testing forum. Tutorials are below.

Note: When you start a new topic this one may be removed. So don't panic if you get an email that your topic was removed it's only this one.

PC: We highly recommend IrfanView. (Download) (Irfanview Tutorial)

Apple Computers: Tutorial here: http://goccf.com/t/466343

Cell Phones (iPhone or Android): First, do not upload cell phone pictures of screens. They are terrible. Please check your camera settings are set to Medium quality. If it uses compression use 70%, it's perfectly fine for the internet. For file type please use WEBP if your phone has it, otherwise JPG. Avoid PNG and GIF, they are horrible choices. Be sure to crop the image to only show the coin. This is a great setup for cell phones.

Most of us don't care how the coin looks - if you have specific questions about a coin you have, you need to post an image of it to help you.

They did mint proof coins in 65-66-67 called SMS coins=special mint sets. On the left side of the page is Coin Facts and a bunch of other useful info as well as the search box.
