This coin was given to me by my in-laws. They had a motorhome and did a lot of traveling over the years. On a trip to Canada, they were given this coin in change. They set it aside because it seemed 'different.'
They recently sold the vehicle, so they had to clean everything out that they wanted to keep and found this clipped cent where they had left it many years ago.
They just happened to know someone who collected coins that were 'different' so I became the proud owner of this 1974 Clipped Cent.
It weighs 3.113 grams, so the clip is 4% by weight, with a very light Blakesley Effect showing mainly on the obverse. It has lots of luster left with the reverse showing less circulation contact with some nice red/brown areas with bright luster around the Maple Leaves and lettering on the reverse. I've also included an image of the clipped area of the edge.
