Congrats on your latest acquisition. You also were smart to wait and not purchase the Queen Mom dollar when it was first minted. As with all Mint products the value goes down every year so the longer you wait the less expensive the coin will be to acquire! Had you have waited till 2010, you may have been able to purchase it for $99.00.

Is this a Canadian coin? Or is it the Crown?

yikes! that is not a pretty coin image! It may just be reflection but her eyes look scary. Like something from a scary movie with glowing eyes that is coming to get people.

I haven't seen one in hand so I assume they don't really look like that?

I told you its a butt ugly coin. But like silverdollar nuts, I need to buy it as well in order to keep my silver dollar/commerative dollar collection complete.

I'd really have to stop and think about buying something like that, even if it was to keep a collection 'complete'. I'd be scared to open the album and have her staring at me! I think I'd just write a note: "butt-ugly coin that I *refuse* to buy" and put that in the empty slot... either that or make her a little mask to wear over the coin holder..

And that's not the best photo either. Imo it's pretty hard to make a portrait in anything but profile look good unless we're talking high relief.

Congrats silverdollarnuts, that's a great price for the Queen Mum

How far back does your Proof collection go and which coin are you still missing?

I've got the entire run of Proof Commemoratives from '81 to '09 as well as the BU silver dollars from '71 to '09.

This is the last pic I took of the Proof set before I added the '09 100th Anniversary of Flight and the Montreal Canadians 100th Anniversary coins............

And the BU set, also prior to the addition of the '09 coin.........

Good luck with the search for your last two Proof coins silverdollarnuts.

The Canadiens 100th sold out quickly at the RCM, so you'll need to hit up your local coin dealer or find one on ebay..........they're going for about $100 US on ebay.

ive got the 100th annivesary of the Canadians, got it at the mint, I was talking about the 2 different flight anniversary, the proof and proof gold plated, I can get them at the post office but I am waiting because they will go down in value, over 50k made so they will go down next year I hope. Sometimes the post office has specials to get rid of the old collection so I will be waiting for them. as for the 2005 gold plated, still trying to get it cheap on ebay, but they are way to overvalued. I can get the hole collection for 89$ and the sell it for 120$ minimum...go figure...some do get caught by those coin dealers...

Yes, most Postal outlets in Canada carry RCM product, and have since the '80s. Even the sub-Post Offices in stores carry it.
