Commems Collection Classic: US Commemorative Coins Depicting A Mountain

commems CCF Master Historian of USA Commemoratives United States 12252 Posts	Posted 08/04/2024 07:13 am I'm always interested in exploring new topical themes for subsets of US commemorative coins. I recently participated in a "Post Your Volcano and Mountain Coins" thread over in the "Post Your..." galleries area of CCF - it made me take another close look at the coins in the classic-era and modern-era series. I came up with seven coins/programs that fit the bill in the classic-era series and seven within the modern series. Hopefully, I didn't miss too many! Some of the coins on the list may come as surprise due to subtle use of a volcano/mountain within their design. These lists go out to all of CCF's mountain climbers and/or mountain trail hikers. Enjoy! Agreed - and my vote for the most subtle appearance of a mountain is on the Boone Birth Bicentennial, which you describe as: Quote: Though not prominent, the sun is shown rising over the Cumberland Mountains, a part of the Appalachian Mountains range.
