I purchased this RCM shotgun roll of pennies from a fellow collector today. Both ends of the roll are showing the obverse side of the penny, but the unusual thing about this roll is that one coin is the mint mark variety and the other coin is the no mint mark variety. I assume that this is a 2006 roll as that is the only year that both varieties were produced and also someone has marked the roll 2006 in pencil. The roll is non magnetic.
I'm just wondering if anyone else has ever received two different varieties in the same RCM roll?

Its a big yes and your red end mint roll is legit. Back in 2006 I got a new mint case of 2006 pennies and it had about 25 of these shot gun rolls with the no logo on one end and logo on the other end. In the mint production line there was no need to clean out the equipment going from a no logo zinc planchet to a new production logo strike zinc planchet. I have followed these on ebay in the past and others have found them too. I couldnt get $20 for them with no interest in this error roll. Jacked the price up to $40 and sold out quick back then. I still have the remaining case with alot of tail - tail ends. For sure these rolls are mixed. One day I should crack a few just to get a count just for the record on this post.

Thank you chadcoins for the detailed response. That's what I suspect happened at the RCM. It's nice to get confirmation of this from another coin roll collector.

Good call! I am always happy to see someone acting less cavalier than myself.
