(though I do also dislike interrupting long strings of posts - if nothing else then at least because it makes my posts harder to notice in the middle of the string) For now I'll copy @bd251 with my own 500 mark from 1923: Before the end of that year, the hyperinflating Papiermark was replaced by the new and stable Rentenmark at some ridiculous exchange rate with a ton of zeroes. I have a coin from that currency dated 1923 as well and technically its face value is (after conversion) something like 80 million times higher.

It's been several hours, and I don't feel like waiting indefinitely for a theoretical possibility (especially considering that it's about 1 AM in my time zone), so I might as well post the other German coin I mentioned. 2 Rentenpfennig = 0.02 Rentenmark. Wikipedia tells me that the conversion rate was one per (US) trillion, so 2 Rentenpfennig would have been converted from 20,000,000,000 Papiermark. This corresponds to a face value ratio of 40 million between the two coins. I have pictures of two other coins dated 1923; if I wake up early enough I'll try to post one of them. The other one is another Papiermark issue and will likely be skipped.

Quote: Guilty as charged. ...I'm not sure I'd have been following it either if I had 20 or 30 photographed coins to share in a typical year instead of 2 or 3 (if that). I certainly enjoyed the showcases of extensive collections, and would be happy to see more of them! In any case, now that there's been another entry, I think I can now sensibly provide coin #6 of my unusually extensive 1923 representation... Czechoslovakia, 5 haleru, 1923. A beautiful bridge design, though somewhat marred by the obvious scratch (which probably occurred after I've acquired the coin). I used to consider this coin easily among the top most beautiful coins in my entire collection. Plenty of much more deserving entries for that by now, of course, though only a few of those have actually been photographed. That scratch, though... ugh. Maybe some day I'll try to find an example that doesn't have one; it's not a rare type, AFAIK. Next up (and last) is a 200 Papiermark coin, the little sibling of the 500, which I'll post if I wake up early (...or if I stay up very late and there's a bunch more coin posts in between).

Sorry I haven't been contributing much lately.. not for lack of coins. Just too distracted with other 'stuff'. Here area couple of inflationary German city issues. *edit* photos for larger images corrected.
