1972-D Lincoln Cent Struck Thru, Lam Or Cap Srike?

Alonzowick90 Pillar of the Community United States 654 Posts	Posted 08/19/2024 2:42 pm Hey coinnoisseurs, this one looks like a cap strike/lamination issue. you can kinda se a double date but in a very odd position. The coin is slightly rotated to its left, weights about right but has a weird strike thru look as well. thoughts? I see a bit of PMD but it might be part of the error. Report this Post to the Staff

mikediamond Pillar of the Community United States 2737 Posts	Posted 08/19/2024 10:01 pm Alonzowick90, I can't tell if that's a correctly-facing, incuse "72" on Lincoln's shoulder or merely a simulacrum. If these really are numbers, then it would indicate that the die cap rotated before the strike responsible for your coin. But had that been the case, I would have expected to see a greater number of correctly-facing, incuse design elements. Error coin writer and researcher. Report this Post to the Staff
