hello Friends,

Here is the 1864-L indian head that I recently picked up, would this make AU grade? Please share your thoughts. BTW, coin is uncleaned and original, ignore the slight coloroing you see in the picture. thanks a lot for all your inputs.

Genuine, AU53, looks like it might have been briefly in the ground at one point

how do you know the coin has not been cleaned?

the faded staining in the fields and lack of original skin indicates it may have at some point. could it be the photos? sure, but we can only assess what we can see.

shoot the coin straight on, no angle. use a dark background which would help.

decent example but I'm not 100% convinced it would grade straight. personally i'd soak it in acetone and see if some of those dark areas are organic and may life a little

AU53 possible details.

Looks like a nice AU-53. I don't see any obvious corrosion so assume it will straight grade.

Hello Everyone, thanks for all your inputs, this coin made AU55 straight grade with NGC. which was a slight pleasent surprise for me.
