Another cleaned example I am afraid. I would like to know how some of you would handle a collection like this. Keep it intact and downgrade the problem coins, or piece it out? He wants me to liquidate it. What would be the best course of action here?

Plenty of folks buy those as stackers, I have in the past. When I buy stackers, coins like yours, IF I have an empty spot in my book, I put it there until I find one I want, usually MS non-cleaned, definitely non-toned.
Probably not what you want to hear but, it is what it is. How many total of these cleaned do you have on hand?
To be honest, I have not bought coins for a while so I don't know what each is worth as a stacker but if you want to part with them, I can find out and take them off your hands if interested, if not, there's lots of stores/individuals that will. I suggest placing them in the classified on this site, someone would take them. As individual collectable coins, *I* don't see that happening but that's just me. Good luck with them.

Thanks Birdman. I was heading in that direction myself. The majority of these coins are details. I am a stacker first not a collector except for Lincolns. I may to sell a few of these at an adjusted price (downgraded) according to the severity. If any bring over junk prices when offered up I'll let em go and use the proceeds for more 90%. From this point on I'm only going to put up possible straight grades from this collection. We're thinking alike. Thanks

Agree, AU details (cleaned). Must admit most of what you have carries little numismatic premium.

Worn what's called "cull" Morgan dollars sell above melt value. Some stackers like them. On ebay currently they are selling for roughly $25-$30 each in tubes of twenty. Though the Morgans you've posted have problems they should still sell for more than cull prices in my opinion, they are in better shape than culls. You could check ebay sold listings to get an idea of prices, say in the EF to AU range, cleaned, details.

Livingwater, that is exactly the course I am taking. It is quite a selective process to be fair to buyers which is always my first concern. Anything above melt, I use to upgrade his completed collections. He has five completed Walker sets I am working through now to make one nice one. Also another 6 short sets completed. Lots to turn over and go up several grades on one. These Morgan's will be on the shortlist for the same. Thanks for the input. Lots of work to do.
