Well the main reason I cleaned a bit was because a majority of the entire thing, front and back was black. At that point, I just decided to clean it even though I know I know your never suppose to clean coins. It was just like, a what the heck moment when you want to know what lies underneath. But regardless, I'm still going to clean a bit off. Unless you fellows have other methods of bringing up details that can be lost?

The S is obvious in your new pictures but not the V.D.B.

Can we see the entire reverse to see if is a "shallow" N (which the 1909-S VDB has) or a "deep" N.

Type 1 = shallow N,

Not seeing any convincing evidence of the VDB or of the date being 1909.

The N looks shallow. What are your thoughts?
