Not an attractive example by any means, but the S/S RPM is a relatively low population variety among 1941 Large-S nickels. At the lower grade, would the reverse NNE-SSW scratch be enough to details the coin?

I'll say VF details (reverse scratch, last pic).

Thanks for the help, guys. I'm getting better at grading, I had this coin at VF as well. Pity about the scratch, but this nickel will find a home in my reference library for varieties.

i never really got into Jeffersons as all the ones I pretty much needed I got from circulation back in the 60's. never knew of the 41 S/S pretty cool.as for grade VF20 for me

the scratch is toughie as its so fine a line. this is case of you don't want a TPG would call it. typically they would details it however I've seen scratches where they have toned over and they passed them. I'm thinking due to the length of it, it probably would not grade straight but thats just a guess. on the other hand with its lower end grade they pass it. I guess I can't make up my mind. it wouldnt bother me personally and maybe they would net it down a grade to F15 instead. seen that happen also.

PCGS doesn't even show any graded
