I purchased this coin around ten years ago without knowing what B&M Ref Col was just thought it was a really nice half dollar. I later found out it is Bowers and Merena which is now Stacks and Bowers. My questions maybe you all can help with is what is Series:100 Coin:34L?
Do people in the coin community care it was part of the collection and pay more?
Do you all know of any places where there are photos of the collection?

The "Series: 100" and "Coin: 34L" are PCGS identifiers vs. Bowers & Merena identifiers.

- The "Series: 100" identifies the coin as being part of the US Silver Commemorative Coin series. (PCGS has assigned a number to every US coin series.)

- The "34" identifies the coin as the 34th Type of the Silver Commemorative coin series (alphabetically, not chronologically)

- The "L" indicates that within the Oregon Type (1926-39), the 1939 struck by the Philadelphia Mint is the 17th coin (L=17th letter of alphabet).

I'm not aware of the entire B&M Set being imaged somewhere - I've never thought to look! Maybe someone else can point us to it.

Hope that helps!

That's not all too surprising as PCGS only used those identifiers between 1998 and 2005. Coins graded earlier or since do not include these identifiers on their labels/inserts - other IDs are used.
