Good morning. I have a 1997 P Jefferson nickel coin. It is dark red, and it looks like copper. I found it doing metal detecting. I am not sure if this coin is special or if it is a keeper.

to the CCF, Dough101! Buried coins often take on a dark coloration. Here is a 1988-D nickel that I found in the dirt a few weeks ago.

You posted in the wrong section. I am going to lock this thread for lack of photos. Make a new thread along with a couple pics in the proper section.
John1 We will gladly help you, but we will need images first. We are locking this topic to prevent posts with "We need images". You will get many more quality responses when there are quality images in the first post of a topic. Please start a new topic when you are able to upload pictures. If needed you can use the testing forum. Tutorials are below.

Note: When you start a new topic this one may be removed. So don't panic if you get an email that your topic was removed it's only this one.

PC: We highly recommend IrfanView. (Download) (Irfanview Tutorial)

Apple Computers: Tutorial here: http://goccf.com/t/466343

Cell Phones (iPhone or Android): First, do not upload cell phone pictures of screens. They are terrible. Please check your camera settings are set to Medium quality. If it uses compression use 70%, it's perfectly fine for the internet. For file type please use WEBP if your phone has it, otherwise JPG. Avoid PNG and GIF, they are horrible choices. Be sure to crop the image to only show the coin. This is a great setup for cell phones.
