Somalia 5 Shillings--Help - Coin Community Forum

tampabaygrampa Valued Member United States 408 Posts	Posted 05/08/2009 8:11 pm A friend found a Somalia 5 shilling in circulation in Tampa. It was mistaken for a US 5 cent piece. They are about the same size. What is interesting is one side of the coin has a elephant on it and the wording "XXI CENTURY.2000.FOOD SECURITY" Anyone have a idea on the origin of "food security"? wd1040 Pillar of the Community United States 3098 Posts	Posted 05/08/2009 8:15 pm It's usually a coin for FAO, the Food and Agriculture Organization of the UN, which you can read more about here http://www.fao.org/ Many countries usually put out FAO coins, and they all say XXI CENTURY.2000.FOOD SECURITY. I'll show you two of mine when I can pull them out of the bucket. Here you go: 50000 lire from Turkey and 1 Chon from North Korea.
