Ah, nothing new there. The usual anti-cash lobbyists raising their heads and voices.

The C-notes are certainly popular in the underground economies I frequent.

Drug dealers and the heavy hitter
money laundering gang
have no real need for $100 bills .
There are much better ways to hide
money or store it .
Same lame excuse they got rid of
$1000 dollar notes .

I'm not a gangster. But we all understand when paying in cash is beneficial.

Last time I went to McDonalds I was told by the cashier that they don't accept $100 bills anymore. Wonder how many other places are phasing out the 100?

Having something tangible makes you aware of your spending. When you remove that people overspend and get themselves in debt. People with credit cards have larger amounts of debt. People who switched from credit cards to cash tend to have less debt. I'm not saying do away with credit cards, but cash spending can result in more responsible purchasing.

This is true. Cash usage here saw a huge uptick during the Helene aftermath.

The last time I found myself with a $100 note—probably several years ago now—no one would take it! I had to go deposit it at my credit union.

For some people, yes. Not me though. I am a spreadsheet junkie!

Not those of us who are responsible for our actions and know how to maintain a digital budget.

Not me. I pay my card every month. My house and car are paid off, too.

Perhaps, but I can neither confirm or deny that from my experiences.

I am certain there are people who would benefit, but it feels like that is the wrong cure for their disease. There are many digital tools to help control spending, if people are willing to use them. And they will have to in a generation or two from now because cash will be gone by then.

Enjoy it while we live, because when we are dead, cash will not be far behind.
