I have a 1857 old holder NGC ms-64 Flying Eagle cent. It is obverse of 1856 variety. The variety is not noted on the holder. Is it worthwhile to reholder with variety attribution? I plan to sell it.

What is the value difference? If you do re-holder, will you use PCGS?

There is a premium for this variety, but not sure if it would be worth resubmitting. I personally would send to Rick Snow for a photoseal. He can designate the variety as well on the holder. Best part about that is you will get high quality images too.

Red raider, I may do that, perhaps I could even see if he's interested in a purchase.

Start by sending good pics to Rick for an initial evaluation.

That's a no brainer! Go see him and get the photoseal. He will give you a fair offer too, or consign it with him and probably walk away with more than ebay after fees.

Rick Snow doesn't think it is obverse of 1856 variety, but may be a "hybrid" die. He didn't elaborate. I'm going to put it up for auction.
