When trying to open the Numismatic Go Fish thread, the link loads very slowly and then opens a weird page with a desert-looking landscape and the phrase "Nothing to see here". What is happening? Had the thread been deleted? I think I've seen similar errors when trying to check spam threads that got deleted after the page I found them on was loaded, but AFAIK that particular (long-standing) thread is in no way spam. For a while I could open the first page normally but the last page threw the error. Now the first page also doesn't work. Maybe it's because there's a lot of replies? I checked a few other very long threads and apparently they also sporadically error out, but I don't know if any short ones do.

I have been getting the same message for just about everything on the CCF, J1M. I thought it was my computer.

Yes, still happening. Especially with very large threads.

I've been having the same issues as well. It seems fine right now though.
Edit: it just happened again.

It's a thousand-page topic. I warned of this years ago about large topics. You have no idea what processing a topic like that entails. I cannot increase the timeout because of a few ridiculously large topics. I tried to shut down large topics in the past and had a large mutiny on my hands so I said screw it and let it go. Now here we are. This will be me putting my foot down, the ridiculously large topics will have to end. I guess I'll set my alarm for like 3 am to see if I can get it to load then and split it. But hey, whaddoo I know. Microsoft SQL Server Native Client 11.0 error '80040e31' Query timeout expired /forum/topic.asp, line 551

Are you saying it's only 1 topic? or all the big ones

Most big ones. I have not had it happen on any others.

You 20Q people should have taken the hint from GTP by breaking it up into seasons.

It's all our fault. Let me talk to the boys. Bobby, what's the easy fix?

Methinks 20Q is probably the longest thread in the whole of the CCF... I wondered what we would think about splitting this into large sections approximately 1000+ pages each, and could refer back to the older sections at will?
