You got it trig. You guys know me too well. I'm tickled to have this coin. Pics and story later, no camera for a bit.

Quote:
Is see Numista has some new fields to search with.

I've made thousands of modifications on numista due to missing denominations.

The old system used to have the denomination and face value in the same field.

Is the denomination of this coin more than 20 units of currency

From now on you'll have to say "face value" for that type of question. You need to know the currency before you can use "denomination"

This is particularly pertinent for older non-decimal currencies such as roman and greek coins etc where a particular denomination doesn't have a set face value.

A lot of currencies are unknown.

Fun times ahead.

OK,looks like we will have to be more careful.
Good round Loonie.
I have a pile of coins on my desk, that arrived yesterday, so I'll pick one when I get home.

Here's a reply I got from the Numista referee for Iran when I tried to add a denomination for some "standard circulation coins" coins with "falus" in the coin title but no face value listed.

Quote:
I've gone through all of these and changed the denomination to "Unspecified" and switched the Coin type to "Local". Thanks for flagging this!

This was a couple of weeks ago, before they changed the search page.
