Back up and running 92 hours later. What a mess we have here in town. I lost half a red maple, a stand of 3 birch, the crab apple and umbrella trees. The twigs weighted with ice, slowly bent the birch closer and closer to the ground, then I spooked C, to come watch it settle on the house. Uprooted and peeled like a banana. All in slow motion, watched it happen.. The birch took out the other 2 on the way down. Pics later. No damage to the house, or my neighbours sheds. Pretty much every house in town has a story. Mine was manageable, others, not so lucky. Welcome back Loonie. That storm must have been a beaut. I hope everything get back in order quickly. |

That's why I stayed up all night. That icicle in my hand is right up against the screen door. I could just squeeze out. Had to wait for it to melt to cut it free from the roof with a Swede saw, little by little because it was under a bit of tension. It's all bucked up, brush at the curb, logs on the ground. Bent the bar, so the big stuff can wait. Trees are not light. I worked my butt off Monday.
