I've never seen this before.... While searching a BU box of 2024 D LMC's I came across the attached 6 coins, in several different rolls. It appears to me that what was being struck through was moving across the die... It had to be a piece of wire or something of substance in order to stand up to the forces in the chamber. These are highly reflective, uncirculated mint state and B&W provided for the best images.
I'm interested you your thoughts. Also, might be an interesting one for Mike Diamond to review.

And it's only in the different locations on each coin?
The last two closeup do appear to be the same item but in a slightly different location.
Neat.

Pretty neat strike-through errors. To me, that looks like thread or cloth dust. I imagine that they could all be unique bits of debris that contaminated a hopper of planchets or floated into the machinery due to static electricity.

Exactly, Pete , slightly different locations but the same struck through material on the last two coins. That and the same length and width is how I knew it was a strike through of something moving around in the chamber. If I found one of these by itself I would have given it a 2nd thought. But one after another uncirculated rolls was definitely something different.
