I think I found my first RPM. I am thinking its RPM-009. with the exception of some MD in the 9 of the date. what do you guys think?

Could either of you break it down for me how you two could tell that this was PMD and not authentic rpm? They look the same

The RPM is South on the mint mark on VV. The example pictured on VV is also showing Split Plating. Your coin isn't showing an RPM South. You only have Split Plating.

When these started popping up early on, I believe that sites like VV 'thought' it was an RPM and listed it.

It is MY belief that all of them are just split plating - I mean you can clearly see the zinc core in your image.

They do have the same split plating but the one on VV also has a RPM.

The easiest way to tell this is split plating is the color. Why is it silver when the rest of the coin is brown? The copper plating split open, exposing the zinc core.

The copper plating is extremely thin and can break open like this when the coin is struck. I think I can see this effect above STATES on the reverse of this coin as well.
